See New Angel of Music Sculpture at Green-Wood

Green-Wood Cemetery has replaced the sculpture “Angel of Music,” which honors composer and pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk – the original had been damaged by vandals in 1959.

Brownstoner notes that the monument is on display now, and that it will be officially unveiled at a ceremony next Saturday, October 13 at 1pm. The event will include performances of his piano compositions and talks by Gottschalk scholars. Reservations are recommended.
