Today, the second shooter from a violent, daylight revenge killing in Bed-Stuy was sentenced to 18 years in jail, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez announced.

The murder took place three years ago, on May 27, 2015. At around 3:30 pm on that Wednesday, the defendant Tyshon Knight pulled up to the Risely Dent towers at 1615 Fulton Street with another man, Isaac Bryant, looking for the man who allegedly shot Bryant’s brother.

In the crowded courtyard of the highrise, the two spotted 31-year old Jamaal Anderson, and figuring him for their target, each raised a gun and started blasting away. Anderson turned and tried to run from the gunmen, but was shot in the back and collapsed before he could escape.

After firing 13 rounds into the courtyard full of people, Knight and Bryant fled the scene, but were captured on surveillance video.

Anderson was rushed to nearby Interfaith Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival from the gunshot wound in his back.

Police eventually caught up to the two shooters, and this year, both have been sentenced to jail. Isaac Bryant got 23 to life in February after a jury trial and Tyshon Knight, now 34 years old, has been sentenced by a Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice to 18 years in prison, on charges of manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

“The defendant’s brazen actions ended a man’s life and simultaneously put others in danger,” District Attorney Gonzalez said in a statement. “I am committed to bringing dangerous individuals to justice and keeping Brooklyn safe for all of our residents.”

This announcement follows closely on the heels of another sentencing for a revenge killing, the murder of Kevin Colon, which also took place in 2015.
