Harry Potter fandom meet-up
When: Monday, September 26 at 3pm.
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.
What: Check out the first meeting of the Harry Potter fandom club to discuss Harry, Hermione, Ron, Hagrid and Dumbledore and their struggle against the Dark Arts. All Hogwarts Houses and ages welcome.

TONIGHT: PS 217 School Re-zoning meeting

When: Monday, September 26 from 6pm to 8pm.
Where: PS 217 at 1100 Newkirk Ave between Coney Island Avenue and Westminster Road.
What: Representative from the Department of Education will be presenting re-zoning proposals affecting local schools for District 22. This is a big deal for the neighborhood, so expect a big turn out.
How Much: Free, and important for all district parents and administrators.

Pop-Shove It punk party
When: Monday, September 26 from 10pm to 2am.
Where: Sycamore Bar, 1118 Cortelyou Road between Stratford and Westminster Roads
What: Rock out all night long at Sycamore’s monthly punk/metal/garage/skate party.
How Much: No cover charge

Fiction of the 21st century book club
When: Tuesday, September 27 at 6:15pm.
Where: Cortelyou Public Library, 1305 Cortelyou Road at Argyle Road.

What: Check out a free, traveling puppet show from professional puppeteers, performing the classic tale Puss in Boots.

Make It In Brooklyn Innovation Summit
When: Wednesday, September 28 from 8am to 8pm.
Where: Citypoint, 1 Dekalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn.

70th Precinct Community Council Meeting
When: Wednesday, September 28 at 7:30pm.
Where: 70th Precinct headquarters, 175 Lawrence Avenue between Seton Place and Ocean Parkway.
What: Want to see a change in the neighborhood? Come speak directly with representatives from the precinct and get the latest on crime and safety in the neighborhood, at the monthly community council meeting from the 70th Precinct.

Kensington Participatory Budgeting Assembly
When: Wednesday, September 28 at 6:30pm.
Where: PS 230, 1 Albermarle Road (between Dahill Road and McDonald Avenue).
What: The participatory budgeting process gives New Yorkers the power to decide how to spend tax dollars in our neighborhoods. Come out to this assembly meeting for Council District 39 to brainstorm ideas for projects that will help our schools, libraries, parks, streets, and other shared spaces.

Live Music at Bar Chord
When: Thursday, September 29 at 9pm.
Where: Bar Chord, 1003 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road.
What: Solo performer Cosmos Sunshine’s Butterly Fight Club graces the stage at Bar Chord.
How Much: Free show, but don’t forget the drinks at the bar.

Black Violin Unity Tour at Brooklyn College
When: Thursday, September 29 at 8pm.
Where: Whitman Theatre, 2900 Avenue H at Amersfort Place.
What: Join Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College for their opening show: Black Violin, a multi-genre band rising to international stardom. Combining classical music training with hip-hop and R&B influences, Black Violin connects audiences of all ages and cultural backgrounds through the unifying power of music.
