School Progress Grades Posted and South Slope Is Looking Good

Progress grades for the 2011-2012 school year were posted yesterday, and South Slope is looking mighty fine.

Although PS 295 and Junior High School 88 moved from an A to a B, the other schools in our area (District 15) held or improved their grades from the 2010-2011 school year.

PS 10 (Elementary): Overall Grade A (2010-2011 B)
PS 39 (Elementary): Overall Grade B (2010-2011 B)
PS 107 (Elementary): Overall Grade A  (2010-2011 B)
PS 124 (Elementary): Overall Grade A (2010-2011 B)
PS 172 (Elementary): Overall Grade A (2010-2011 A)
PS 295 (Elementary): Overall Grade B (2010-2011 A)
New Voices School of Academic and Creative Arts (Middle): Overall Grade A (2010-2011 A)
Hellenic Classical Charter School (K-8): Overall Grade A (2010-2011 B)
Junior High School 88 (Middle): Overall Grade B (2010-2011 A)

Of course, you can’t just go by the letter grades alone (the metrics of which are explained here). When you’re trying to decide which school is the best fit for your child, take a tour, talk to teachers and parents, and you’ll find you can go a lot deeper than the grades.

The entire progress report for the 2011-2012 school year can be found on the NYC Department of Education website.
