Scam Alert! Con Artist Going Door-To-Door

There’s a man going door-to-door in South Brooklyn and, as my grandfather might say, it ain’t Red Skelton. The New York Post reported yesterday that Councilman Domenic Recchia is warning residents about a scamster that’s ringing area door bells asking for charitable donations. According to Recchia’s office, the con artist claims to be soliciting donations for Gil Hodges Little League. Frank Lo Piccolo, executive director of the Grace Gravesend Athletic Association which organizes Gil Hodges Little League, told the Post he “has received complaints from Marine Park, Gravesend, Bath Beach,  Bensonhurst and Bay Ridge, and he has filed a police report in response.”

The suspected swindler is described as a white male in his late 20’s or early 30’s, with dark brown or black hair. Councilman Recchia is reportedly urging locals to spread the word about this scam and to call police if they come into contact with the scam artist.
