Save the date for two weeks from now when police precincts across the city and country will be holding community festivals in each of their neighborhoods in order to foster police-community relations. Called the National Night Out Against Crime, the Tuesday, August 4 event will take place in two different locations here in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

The first will run from 11am to 7pm at DeKalb Avenue and Washington Park, at the corner of Fort Greene Park, and is being hosted by the 88th Precinct.

The second will run from 5pm to 8:30pm at 117 North Oxford Walk at the Walt Whitman Houses and is hosted by PSA3 — the police detail that oversees local public housing developments.

Although the details are not finalized as to what exactly will be at each Night Out festival — bouncy house? live DJ? ice cream? toys? — there will be live music, performances from youth groups, games, free food, and more, including information about police programs that neighbors can learn more about.

We’ll post again when we know more about what you can expect!
