This Saturday, August 13, the city Department of Transportation, the Flatbush Development Corporation and local merchants are teaming up for the eighth season of Weekend Walks, featuring outdoor dining, family activities and an outdoor screening of “Pokemon: The First Movie” — chosen by very popular demand!

The event will kick off around 5pm and last until about 10pm, during which time Cortelyou Road, from Coney Island Avenue to East 17th Street, will be closed to vehicles. Cross streets will remain open.

The evening’s festivities include:

  • Sidewalk displays and merchandise on the Cortelyou sidewalk, 5pm to 10pm.
  • A bounce house, giant board games, hula hoop contest, and obstacle course for kids.
  • Sidewalk dining at various Cortelyou eateries, 5pm to 8pm.
  • An outdoor showing of “Pokemon: The First Movie” at Cortelyou & E. 17th (during which there will be free popcorn provided by the Flatbush Food Co-op — and maybe ice cream, too!) Neighbors are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets. Movie begins at 8:30pm.
  • Special Pokemon Lures and other items will be opened on August 13 for the event!

Return to Cortelyou for the second outdoor film screening of Ghostbusters, on Friday August 19. The street party that night will also feature The Farm On Adderley’s 10th anniversary party, with free food and drinks, live music by Gioel Severini Jazz Trio, and giveaways of the Farm’s famous curry mayo.
