Salsa On The Waterfront Festival Returns To Pier 4 Next Month
Time to dust off your dancing shoes, because the salsa-themed Boricua Festival is returning to Sunset Park next month.
The annual “Salsa on the Waterfront” event, which takes place Saturday, June 25, 12pm- 7pm, will offer an array of food vendors, salsa music, and dancing on Pier 4 (1st Avenue and 58 Street) all afternoon.
The free, all-day festival and concert will also include performances by salsa artists, dancers, and musicians, as well as displays of live painting and photography.
“We will be showcasing salsa music from yesterday through today,” said Boricua Festival Committee president Pat Ruiz.
Previously held at the Prospect Park Bandshell, the Boricua Festival has been around since 1998, and moved to Sunset Park’s waterfront in 2008 — becoming “Salsa on The Waterfront.”
The Boricua Festival Committee is an organization dedicated to promoting social interaction throughout Brooklyn’s Latino community. Committee members work with community organizations, elected officials, and community boards to bring this event to Sunset Park, drawing between 5,000-8,000 salsa lovers each year.
Community based organizations, such as NYU Lutheran, Sunset Park Senior Center, Uprose, the Brooklyn Public Library, and Con Edison, will be there to offer information to attendees.
