Sail Away With The Flatbush Food Co-op
The Flatbush Food Co-op is inviting anyone interested in letting go of solid ground and embarking for an open water adventure to join the group as it hosts a Hudson River sail aboard the sloop Clearwater July 20.
As participants set sail along Hudson River, seeing its vistas and landmarks, they will learn about the history, ecology, and preservation of the 315-mile watercourse named for Henry Hudson, an Englishman who explored the area in the early 1600s.
Children’s activities, live music, and lunch will be provided.
The voyage will begin at the 79th Street boat basin.
Operated by the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater Inc., a nonprofit that formed more than 45 years ago with the intent of defending and restoring the waterway for which it is named, the boat – and otherwise movable classroom – is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its significant to the environmental movement.
Tickets are $60 per person, $45 for co-op members, and $25 for children ages 12 and younger. They are available at clearwater.brownpapertickets.com. For more information contact leah@flatbushfood.coop.
