I.S. 98 Bay Academy Needs Your Vote To Win $15,000 For Science Lab

The 8th graders at I.S. 98, the Bay Academy on Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay, have just won $5,000 and Best in State among all middle school teams in the Verizon Innovative Learning app challenge. (Brooklyn Tech team took the prize among the High School teams in New York).

The app, called Dreamz, promises to help millions of people around the world who suffer from insomnia: “It creates delta waves that can help you achieve deep sleep from 0.5HZ to 4 HZ, and help to break the normal cycle of beta waves in your brain which keeps you awake.” The awesome kids who worked on it are: Muhammad Afzal, Leron Benari, Julian Lam, David Mekhtiev, Allen Rakhamimov, & Jonathan Shabatayev! The next step, and where every vote counts, is to win Fan Favorite award, which would add $15,000 for the science department at the school.

Voting started and will continue till February 14th. As of the publishing time, they had 4,798 votes, and were in the top spot. Let’s help them stay there!
