Caesar Raynor, 71, who is part of a team that was hired to renovate B’nai Adath Kol Beth Yisrael, was working with a torch on the rooftop when he accidentally sparked the two-alarm fire, according to ABC7.

The fire quickly spread from the roof of the two-story building located at 45 Patchen Avenue to other parts of the synagogue, causing significant damage and minor injuries to three people, ABC7 reports.

Raynor is being charged with reckless endangerment, a NYPD representative says.
