This Sunday, September 28 marks the 40th anniversary of the Atlantic Antic! This year’s festivities, running from noon to 6pm rain or shine, are set to be the most exciting yet.

A huge array of foods will be available, vendors will be out selling their goods, an entire block will be dedicated to activities for kids (face painting, pony rides, and storytelling, anyone?), and artists including Les Sans Culottes, The Black Coffee Blues Band featuring Dimitri of Die Stammkneipe/Der Schwarze Kölner, and Yoham Ortiz and Brown Rice Family (both on BRICArts‘ B-Side stage) will be performing all day long.

There is a downside to the celebration, however. Neighbors trying to drive in the area on Sunday might find themselves with a bit of a headache, as during Antic hours, Atlantic Avenue will be closed between Hicks Street and Fourth Avenue–also, effectively, barring vehicular access to several one way blocks that intersect with the avenue.

Takeaway lessons? Don’t try and drive this Sunday, do not go near the subways–and actually, maybe just enjoy the Antic on foot.
