Restaurants Perfect For Valentine’s Day, Plus Ideas If You’d Rather Stay In
Valentine Heart

Where are you spending Valentine’s Day evening? We have delicious date night restaurants right here in the neighborhood. If you’d prefer to spend the holiday in a more private setting (i.e., not sitting next to your neighbors at the next table), we’ve added a few restaurants further down the F/G line.

Within Walking Distance
Hamilton’s (2826 Fort Hamilton Parkway) will have a special Valentine’s Day menu, though it hasn’t yet been released. If it’s anything like their everyday menu, you’ll be in good hands — just save room for dessert (we’d recommend the warm date cake for your warm date). They are currently accepting reservations.

Chef Greg brought French cuisine from his hometown of La Rochelle, France to share with his neighbors at Le Paddock (1235 Prospect Avenue). He’s cooking up specials in his wood-fired oven, which you can enjoy over a bottle of wine from their nice (and pretty affordable) list.

A block down Prospect Avenue is the environmentally and ethically aware Brooklyn Commune (601 Greenwood Avenue), where they’ll be serving a decadent six-course tasting menu on Valentine’s Day, which includes oysters and a roast pork with dashi risotto. Reservations are required.

The Castello Plan (1213 Cortelyou Road) is offering a four-course prix fixe Valentine’s Day special complete with a champagne toast. If The Castello Plan is full, you can also walk across the street to Ditmas Park’s newest restaurant, Lea (1022 Cortelyou Road), from the same owners. Pair one of Lea’s specialty pizzas with a bottle of red for a dimly-lit evening.

The Farm on Adderley (1108 Cortelyou Road)is taking reservations of any size for their prix fixe Valentine’s Day meal, and if you call ahead, you can arrange to have their neighbor, Stems Flowershop, leave a bouquet on your table for when you arrive.

Or, you could let lovebirds Ashley and Matt Weavil serve you Valentine’s Day dinner! The Dogwood (1021 Church Avenue) is hosting a special prix fixe, three-course with wine pairings and they’re currently accepting reservations.

Further Down The F/G Train Line
Though Battersby (255 Smith Street, Cobble Hill) is amazing, it’s also very small and can be hard to get into. No reservations are available for Valentine’s Day for their tasting menu tables, but the rest are up for grabs on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have to wait a bit, head to nearby Clover Club (210 Smith Street) to relax with a cocktail by the fireplace.

Rucola (190 Dean Street, Boerum Hill) is close to the G at Hoyt-Schermerhorn. They’re taking Valentine’s Day reservations for parties of all sizes, and have a special menu in addition to their regular menu (which includes broccoli rabe pasta, duck breast, and more). Prepare to be cozy and well-fed.

Looking for a low-key date spot? Brookvin (381 7th Avenue, South Slope) is cozy and casual. Their menu may be short — and delicious! — but their wine list is extensive.

Want To Stay In?
Brancaccio’s (3011 Fort Hamilton Parkway) is planning specials for Valentine’s Day. My favorites on the regular menu include the rotisserie chicken, balsamic mushrooms, roasted beets with fennel, and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Remember to grab a loaf of bread.

Once you have dinner, walk over Ocean Parkway to the Juice Box (1289 Prospect Avenue) for a bottle of Pinot Noir. Set out the meal with fine china over candlelight.
