This Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16, Saint Augustine’s Episcopal Church (4301 Avenue D between E 43rd Street and Troy Avenue) will be hosting Project Safe Surrender, a community program that assists in resolving New Yorkers’ outstanding warrants and summonses and provides help in the areas of health, housing, employment, training, and education to get them back on their feet.

If you or someone you know has an outstanding warrant or summons for trespassing, disorderly conduct, loitering, unlawfully being in a park after hours, not complying with posted signs in a park, marijuana possession, smoking marijuana, unlawful possession of alcohol under age 21, consumption of alcohol in public, littering, spitting, riding a bike on the sidewalk, making unreasonable noise, animal nuisance, failure to have a dog license, having an unleashed dog, aggressive solicitation, or unlawful possession of handcuffs, the local clergy, pastors, and defense attorneys at Project Safe Surrender can help.

The event will be held from 9am-3pm both days, and will include food and a resource fair. Those who attend will not receive amnesty, but will receive favorable consideration. According to the Project Safe Surrender website, 99% of participants have their warrants resolved.
