Earlier this week, we reported that 86th Street Chevrolet (1575 86th Street) is changing hands and getting ripped down, but is expected be reopened by new owner John Iocono in 2016.

We wrote:

“It’s going to be exactly what it is right now, but with a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility,” he told us. “The facility will be one that will upgrade the consumer experience.”
In addition, the new building will be significantly larger. The current building is only one floor. When construction is complete, the 86th Street Chevrolet will boast increased square footage, a lower level, a first floor, and a rooftop for parking and additional inventory.

Iacono was kind enough to send us renderings of the new-and-improved building, and it looks pretty promising. The old building’s signage was dated and the wide-open parking was an eye-sore. The new building looks like it will transform the appearance of the block.

Here’s the old building vs. the new one:

Pretty significant upgrade, no?
