Are you having nightmares because your kid still hasn’t scored that elusive preschool spot for the upcoming fall term? Take a deep breath and relax, fellow Park Slope parents, for there are still some attractive options out there. One particularly earthy option: Brooklyn Forest School, which has openings for budding naturalists in both their parent/child class (kids ages fifteen months to four years) and their drop-off nursery program (kids must be three by September 1). The play-based program uses Prospect Park as its classroom, encouraging kids’ natural curiosity through mud, worms, and baby swans.
The eighteen week parent/child class begins on September 10 ($497.79) and the year long nursery program begins on September 6 ($6,500 with a $1,000 deposit due on August 15). For more information visit the school’s website or call 347-915-5679. In the meantime, check out their handy and weirdly hypnotic video outlining “10 Things You Should Know About Forest School.”
