Registration Now Open for The Brooklyn Forest School
The Brooklyn Forest School, a parent-child class and nursery program that takes place entirely outdoors in Prospect Park, starts its session on September 10, and registration is now open. One of the teachers, Charlie Foster, send this info:
We started last fall as a once-a-week class for several families from the Waldorf School in Brooklyn and grew quickly by word of mouth, adding five classes with 50 more families from all over Brooklyn. This fall, we’re preparing to enroll over 100 parent-child families along with the drop-off nursery. There are already several wonderful forest school families from Ditmas Park, and given the neighborhood’s proximity, we’d love for more DP families to know about our classes.
While forest schools are extremely popular in Europe and the UK, they’re relatively new to the US, especially in urban settings. So we’re very excited to be bringing them to Brooklyn families–they seem happy about it too. The activities are simple and play-based and each class we have a picnic of tea, apples, and homemade bread.
