Did you get some cool new gadgets over the holidays, and now you don’t know what to do with the old ones? Drop them off at the 11th annual After the Holidays E-Waste Collection Event this Sunday, January 19 from 10am to 4pm at Prospect Park, sponsored by the Lower East Side Ecology Center, Tekserve, and Council Member Brad Lander.

You can drop off both working and non-working electronics at the 3rd Street entrance to the park on Prospect Park West, and LES Ecology will take them off your hands for either refurbishing or recycling.

Here’s what they’ll accept:

• Computers
• Monitors
• Printers
• Cables/cords
• Keyboards and mice
• TVs, VCRs, and DVD players
• Stereo equipment
• Gaming equipment
• Cell phones

They’ll also take batteries, but ask that alkaline and rechargeable batteries are separated, with the terminals of the rechargeable batteries taped up. They cannot accept home appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators, or air conditioners.

Anyone who drops-off electronic equipment will receive a coupon for $25 off a purchase of $100 or more at Tekserve and will be entered in Tekserve’s raffle, where you can win a MacBook Air. Zipcar members will receive a coupon for $15 of free driving credit for coming to the event.
