What better way to warm up on a chilly night than with a bright, bracing cocktail? That’s what Myrtle Avenue wine and spirits shop Tipsy (584 Myrtle Avenue) thought, and with help from customer David Hafetz, they came up with this Blood Orange Margarita (first posted on their blog).

Named La Schwanseritz, the cocktail is inspired by Mexico:

These Blood Orange Margaritas, which are named La Schwanseritz after a mariachi singer, are easy to make and remind us of warm, tropical vacations.
We knew we had to try it. Our Don Amado Mezcal was the perfect boozy match for [Hafetz’s] blood orange-based recipe; proving that winter shouldn’t limit you to red wine and warming whiskey. Here’s the recipe so you can have your own Mexican vacation without leaving your kitchen.

Combine all the ingredients in a shaker. Shake, pour into a glass and be transported to a tropical locale.
