Queens Neighbor Shot & Killed In Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE – A 31-year-old man from Queens was murdered while visiting his mother in Brooklyn just before the weekend, cops say.

On Friday, August 16 at around 10 p.m., Rakeem Edwards was shot on the back of his head outside the Marcus Garvey Houses. He was there to visit his mother, the Daily News reported. Edwards was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“Everybody loved my son,” Rakeem’s mother Christine Edwards told the Daily News. “He never did no harm. …He never gave me problems, even growing up. That is my first and my oldest son they took away from me.”
