Rabbi Andy Bachman Claims He Was ‘Booted’ From Bernie Event Over Pro-Clinton Tweets

Rabbi Andy Bachman claims a few pro-Clinton tweets got him dismissed from presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ event focused on open dialogue.
The former rabbi at Congregation Beth Elohim claims that he was abruptly uninvited from a “Faith and Social Justice Roundtable” at First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn Heights this past Saturday that included Sanders, Dr. Cornel West and Muslim-American community activist Linda Sarsour.
Bachman tweeted:
I was booted off tonight’s interfaith panel with @BernieSanders because of some “pro-@HillaryClinton” tweets. So much for being a loyal Dem

As first reported by Debra Nussbaum Cohen of Haaretz, Bachman was replaced by fellow Park Slope resident, Reform Rabbi Sara Luria of ImmerseNYC, a pluralistic mikveh.
Symone Sanders, national press secretary for the Sanders campaign, denied knowledge of the snafu and said she was “only familiar with the panelists who were confirmed.”
“That was Rabbi Luria, who is an excellent advocate for women, and Linda Sarsour, who is a Muslim American advocate,” she said.
Bachman indicated to Haaretz that he might eventually blog about the incident.
