Question Of The Week: Computer Repair?

We live in a time when our stuff doesn’t last too long, and many of us don’t think twice about replacing an electronic device with a new one when something goes wrong with the old (which is understandable sometimes, given how frustrating these things can be).

But what about those of us who want or need to keep that old one going for a little bit longer? Neighbor Ian is looking for some advice:
