There have already been a lot changes to southern Brooklynites’ commutes within the last year — whether its the proposed the F express train that’s tearing the borough apart, or closing stations along the N and R lines. Now, it looks like Q train riders can look forward to another modification, though its a little more abstract than some of the other changes.

The MTA expects to complete the first phase of the long-anticipates Second Avenue Subway line by December, which means the Q train will be turning north at 63rd Street to travel up the freshly-laid track to 96th Street, instead of heading into Queens.

There is still skepticism the MTA can make good on its deadline. So to prove they’re serious, the agency released a revised subway map showing the changes.

Q train service to Queens will be replaced by bringing back the W train, which will run from the Ditmars Boulevard stop to Whitehall Street starting in November. In the interim between the W train’s revival and the completion of the Second Avenue Subway, the Q train will stop at 57th Street, according to the MTA.

For southern Brooklyn straphangers, rerouting the Q train to the Second Avenue Subway line means we can travel to the Upper East Side without needing to transfer. Or maybe the Q train was your favorite route to Queens? (But wouldn’t you take the G train anyway?) But you might just shrugging your shoulders? You have everything you need right here.
