PS 321’s Kaylee Hammond Wins 1st Place In New York Road Runners Youth Jamboree Events
Congratulations to 10-year-old Kaylee Hammond, a PS 321 5th grader who competed at a New York Road Runners Youth Jamboree this past weekend in the 100-meter and 200-meter races in her age group and received 1st place ribbons in both events!
Kaylee has been a member of the PS 321 Mighty Milers program for four years and also belongs to Park Slope’s new Run4Fun running group, and says
she “likes the competition of Jamborees,” and “likes exercise better than sleeping in on the weekends!” Her 12-year-old brother Kevon is also a runner, but “I’m faster!” she noted.Kaylee joined nearly 2,000 kids at Saturday’s NYRR Youth Jamboree on Randall’s Island. Free and open to all NYC kindergarten through high school students, the Jamborees have provided a fun venue for kids to learn about track and field since 2004.
Do you know a neighbor who’s accomplished something awesome recently? We’d love to share the news! Let us know about them at editor@bklyner.com.
