Prospect Gardens Pharmacy To Close Next Week
A local pharmacy that’s been on the corner of 7th Avenue and Union Street since the 1940s will close its doors for the final time next week.
Prospect Gardens Pharmacy, located at 89 7th Avenue, announced plans to close following the sale of its building back in December, and now having finalized all the preparations, they plan to close on March 17. Prescriptions will be moved to Rite-Aid, and though there are still plenty of items on the shelves, it’s going fast — be sure to stop in soon to say goodbye and wish them well.
The space, also known as 857-861 Union Street, has two retail spaces (a law office is the other, on Union) and 12 residential units, and according to the Daily News, it sold for the record price of $8.63 million, the highest price ever paid for a mixed-use building in the neighborhood.
No word yet on what will take over the space next, though the Daily News noted the new owner plans to “install a big national retail tenant.”
