President’s Day Crime Blotter: Firefighter Chokes Girlfriend, Girlfriend Chokes Firefighter & More

RED HOOK – An FDNY firefighter was arrested yesterday for choking his girlfriend. His girlfriend was also arrested — for choking the firefighter.

On Sunday, February 17 at about 11:30 a.m., 34-year-old James Samuel, who was off duty, was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment. His girlfriend, Esynce Ealey, was arrested with criminal obstruction of breathing, child endangerment, and assault.

BED-STUY – Two people were stabbed during a fight that took place yesterday.

On Sunday, February 17, at about 4:40 a.m., a fight broke out inside a bodega on Fulton Street (at Tompkins Avenue) and spilled out onto the street. Two male victims, one 28- and the other 33-years-old, were taken to Kings County Hospital.

The New York Daily News has surveillance video of the fight breaking out inside the store by the deli counter. “They were all in here buying sandwiches,” the store’s owner told the newspaper. Cops have arrested two suspects.

BUSHWICK – Police need help searching for a man that went missing last week.

78-year-old Jesus Rivera was last seen leaving his home on Cooper Street on February 8 at about 3:30 p.m. Cops describe him as a 6’0” tall Hispanic man weighing 140 pounds. He has brown eyes, a thin build, dark complexion, and short gray hair.

Rivera was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and red and black sneakers. A photo is attached below.

EAST FLATBUSH – A man was arrested and charged in connection to a homicide that took place in 2017.

To recap, on December 2, 2017, cops responded to a call about an assault at 80 East 93rd Street. A 30-year-old man was unconscious and unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. Darnell Pettway was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Thursday, February 14, 2019 40-year-old James Oliver was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. A photo of the suspect is attached below.

BENSONHURST – The NYPD need help to look for a man involved in a burglary that took place two weeks ago.

On Tuesday, February 5 at about 10 p.m., a man broke through the front door of a deli on 118 Avenue T. He stole a total of $4,250 in cash and left.

Cops describe him as a 5’10” tall white/Hispanic man, weighing about 170 pounds. The suspect also has a tattoo on his right arm. Photos are attached below.
