Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders To Open Brooklyn Campaign Office On Saturday In Gowanus
Is Gowanus ready to “Feel the Bern”?
The campaign for Presidential Candidate and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders will be setting up shop in the neighborhood tomorrow.
Sanders’ campaign announced today that a block party will kick off the campaign’s New York efforts tomorrow, Saturday, March 26 at 11:30am.
The Brooklyn office will be located at 131 8th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues). The building houses the Interference Archives, an all-volunteer organization that “explore[s] the relationship between cultural production and social movements,” according to their website.
Sanders’ campaign announced that “prominent supporters, including former Ohio state senator Nina Turner, film actor Justin Bartha and Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio will discuss Sen. Sanders’ plans to take on a rigged economy held in place by a corrupt campaign finance system.”
The event is free and open to the public, however you are encouraged to RSVP to the event.
A recently released dataset by Renthop looks at contributions to presidential candidates — by zip code — across the New York City metro area. Data shows that residents in the 11215 zip code lean heavily towards Hillary Clinton. Will the numbers change now that Bernie is setting up shop?
