Pregnant Woman Mutilated By Husband In Midwood
Workers at Coney Island Hospital discovered slurs, epithets and curses carved into a woman’s body while prepping her for childbirth, and the woman said the culprit was her husband.
Police arrested Ulubek Khakimov for using a house key to mutilate his wife, and threatening to kill her and the baby.
“He started beating me on the day of our wedding,” Ozodoa Khakimov, 23, an immigrant from Uzbekistan, told the Daily News. “One time he wrote bad words on my leg, and another time with a key on my neck.” She added the he also beat her while she was pregnant.
The scars uncovered by hospital workers spelled out the words “bitch” and “whore” in Cyrillic, according to law enforcement officials.
Ozodoa said the mutilation began while still in Uzbekistan last December, after the two married. Police aren’t charging Ulubek for those crimes, but Ozodoa said Ulubek used a key to cut into her chest, thighs, neck and stomach since they moved to Midwood in August.
Ulubek was arrested on Friday, after he called his wife at the hospital and said he was coming to kill her and the child. Police arrested him there.
He was charged on 27 counts of assault, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.
