The  relocation of the Pratt Station United States Post Office from 524 Myrtle Avenue (between Hall Street and Emerson Place) up the road to 609 Myrtle will commence in late October, according to the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership, in order to make way for a block full of new developments.

The organization says retail operations will cease at 524 on Saturday, October 25. A pop-up location inside 609, which has been chosen as the permanent home for Pratt Station, will offer service such as P.O. Box and package pickup. Once construction is completed on facilities at 609, the entire space will be opened to provide a full range of services.

524 Myrtle is set to become a mixed use building owned by Silverstone Property Group, according to DNAInfo. The development firm reportedly bought all of the buildings between 504 and 524 Myrtle for $5,557,500 in late 2012–giving them, along with previous purchases, the entirety of the south side of Myrtle Avenue between Grand Avenue and Hall Street.

Construction has already begun at 492 Myrtle Avenue on two buildings to contain 240 rental units, where former tenant Associated Supermarket is set to reopen at a future date. Several other retail tenants along the strip, including Bergen Bagels, Nikki Beauty Supply, and New Grace Kitchen, have closed or relocated.

Mail delivery will not be interrupted during the switchover. In the meantime, the Partnership encourages neighbors to visit Sandbox Pack & Ship (417 Myrtle Avenue between Clinton and Vanderbilt) and Walgreens (379 Myrtle Avenue at Clermont) for stamps and other shipping materials and services.
