WILLIAMSBURG – A new condo project is back underway on a residential side street in Williamsburg, work resuming after the resolution of a stop work order. Now, a new rendering offers a preview of the finished product.

The three-story building is being constructed at 21 Powers Street, off Union Avenue, a couple blocks south of the Metropolitan G. The brick building will add 14 one- and two-bedroom units to the neighborhood, which will be priced anywhere from $75k to $1.5 million, YIMBY reports.

With the resolution of the stop work order, it appears adequate protections for the neighboring driveway and street have been put in place (Paul Stremple/BKLYNER)

A stop work order was slapped on the site after a complaint of concrete falling onto a neighboring driveway and no netting, which led to a July 10 inspection by the city. Complaints from previous months included unsafe scaffolding and construction workers working without harnesses.

As of this morning, work was back in full swing, with plenty of scaffolding and netting in view:

The luxe new condo project is replacing a low-slung warehouse and small parking area that previously occupied the site, the last of their kind amid a variety of multi-family residences on the street. The property was purchased by an anonymous LLC for $5.7 million back in 2016.

Renderings show a fairly subtle brick facade, with large windows on the second and third floor, and a fourth-floor setback that creates a rooftop terrace. The building will be 44 feet tall. Amenities like a fitness room and a bike storage space will be included, fairly standard for current developments.

The location is three blocks south of the L and G trains at Metropolitan/Lorimer, and a block away from the B48 bus line.
