Pop-Up Concerts Happening All Over Sunset Park’s 5th Avenue Today
Make Music New York is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with over 1,200 concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the five boroughs.
This year, Sunset Park’s 5th Avenue BID has coordinated with local businesses to host several pop-up musical performances and dance troupes all over 5th Avenue. Below is the schedule:
- Featuring Douglas Cohen, a composer and professor at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music 12:45pm – 1:45pm
- John Cage: Waltz 8.2 – “We’re inviting anyone and everyone to record themselves playing music, by John Cage or yourself, as part of 49Waltzes.com” 1:45pm – 9pm
2. George Restaurant, 5701 5th Avenue
- 3:30pm-5pm – Rick Rocker, “A Pop Rock performance that will have you jumping for joy!”
3. Parkette Brooklyn, 4022 5th Avenue
- 6:30 PM – 07:30 PM – Noa Fort, WorldSinger/SongwriterJazz
- 7:30pm- 8pm – Tropical Image Dance Studio – Latin
4. Cricket Wireless, 5410 5th Avenue
- 3pm-4pm – DJ Jayrocks, plays a mixture of universal music in this event which includes EDM, Latin music, cumbia, bachata, Reggaeton, merengue, salsa and many more genres. “My passion is music and I love to mix it around different cultures,” he says.
