Police: Woman Abducted Two Children In Borough Park

A woman is accused of snatching two young children from the backyard of a Borough Park home, setting off a two-hour search and rekindling memories of the tragic Leiby Kletzky abduction and murder.

Jewish Politics and News Updates is reporting that two 4-year-old children, a boy and a girl, went missing around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The children were first cousins from Israel and Switzerland visiting their grandparents in Borough Park for the Passover holiday. Two hours after the children went missing, the children were found walking home with an unfamiliar woman on 52nd Street between 15th Avenue and 16th Avenue, Jewish Politics reported.

Police suspect Keren Cohen, 46, took the children.

The New York Post reports:

[Cohen] H
ad struck up a conversation with the girl and boy, who are the niece and son of tenants of the 51st Street building, cops said
She claimed they had asked to be taken to a nearby park, and she agreed, cops said.
Police found the kids walking home unharmed. Cohen was charged with criminal trespass and endangering. Her motive was unclear, police said.

The Borough Park Shomrim, a Jewish neighborhood watch group, assisted in the search for the children.
