The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 40-year-old Armando Vasquez, who is wanted in connection with last year’s murder of 21-year-old Alberto Garcia.

On March, 16, 2011 at just after 5am, police responded to a call of a man having been assaulted on 3rd Avenue near 16th Street. Upon arrival police discovered the body of Garcia, then unidentified, on the ground unconscious with stab wounds to his back. He was brought to Lutheran Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are strictly confidential.
