Police are searching for a suspect who has been stealing packages that have been left in the doorways of various neighborhood homes. According to the 72nd Precinct, an arrest has not yet been made.

Signs have been posted in the neighborhood that read:

Beware Of This Thief!
He Is Stealing Your Packages!
He is on a red scooter. And he was on our block on 11/27 between 4:20 and 5:00 pm stealing. He walks up to your doorway and puts you’re [sic] parcel into his bag. If you see this individual please call 911 right away. Also, if something has been stolen you must file a police report with the 72nd Street Precinct at 718-965-6311.

“I know for sure it’s happening on 20th, 19th, and 18th Streets between Prospect Park West and Terrace Place,” says neighbor and active community member Charles Henderson. You may recall Henderson playing a major role in gun-point muggings in the area last September.

Another neighbor who requested anonymity claims to have witnessed the suspect in action, saying that the thief has stolen packages on streets between Greenwood Avenue and Vanderbilt Street.

Neighbors are advised to call 911 immediately to report any incidents.
