Police Searching For 2 Suspects In String Of Robberies In & Near Prospect Park

PROSPECT HEIGHTS/PARK SLOPE – The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the two men seen in the photos and video below in connection to a trio of recent robberies in, or a few blocks away from, Prospect Park.

Police say the first incident occurred at approximately 10:30pm on Monday, July 1st in front of 180 Prospect Place (between Carlton & Vanderbilt Avenues). Two men approached a 37-year-old man, one displayed a handgun while the other demanded the victim’s property. The victim handed over his wallet and cell phone and the suspects fled west on Prospect Place.

The second incident occurred at approximately 11pm on Saturday, July 6 at Prospect Park near 3rd Street and West Drive, according to police. Two men approached three victims: a 21-year-old man and two 20-year-old women. One of the suspects flashed a handgun while the other demanded the victims’ property. The three victims complied, and the two suspects fled with two wallets containing various credit cards, two cell phones, and a bluetooth speaker.

Police say on Sunday, July 7, at approximately 11:30am at a bodega in East Williamsburg, two people tried using one of the credit cards stolen the previous night, but the card was declined.

The third incident took place at approximately 10:30pm on Sunday, July 7 at Prospect Park near 3rd Street and West Drive. This time three men approached three victims: a 20-year-old woman and two 21-year-old men. One of the suspects displayed a knife while another said he had a gun. The suspects demanded the victims’ property and fled with one wallet, $100, and 3 cell phones.

As the suspects walked away from the three victims, police say they knocked a 25-year-old cyclist off his bike and punched him in the face. They took that man’s wallet as well before leaving the park.

The third male suspect involved in the last incident has not been identified. Descriptions for the two other suspects are below:

-one dark-complexioned male, last seen wearing all black clothing.

-one dark-complexioned male with a goatee, last seen wearing a black du-rag, black shirt, light blue jeans, black sneakers.
