The NYPD has released a surveillance image of the suspect in this weekend’s fireworks-torching of a police car in Fort Greene and are asking for help in tracking him down.

As reported yesterday, the suspect tossed live fireworks into the car — which was parked in front of 487 Carlton Avenue — as police attempted to disperse a crowd celebrating the Fourth of July. It was around 3:23am on Sunday, July 5 when the incident happened.

No one was injured and officers were able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the car hd “substantial damage.”

The suspect is described as a black man with a thin build, short haircut, white T-shirt, and dark pants.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, or submit tips online or via text to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are confidential.
