Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the car they say was involved in the hit and run that seriously injured a pedestrian on 4th Avenue earlier this week.

On Wednesday, November 5 at about 12:40pm, police say the blue 2008 Hyundai Elantra, with the New York license plate GRM8448, was traveling northbound on 4th Avenue in the right lane, when it ran a red light at Union Street and struck the 46-year-old woman who was crossing 4th in the crosswalk. The driver then fled the scene.

Police say the victim is listed in stable condition.

Police have provided a photo of the car, shown above, that was taken by a witness. Reports are that the vehicle may have been stolen.

Anyone with information with regards to this car is asked to call the NYPD’s crime stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). You can also submit tips by logging onto the crime stoppers website or by texting tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are confidential.
