After two men robbed a cab driver at gunpoint at Woodruff and Flatbush this afternoon, the driver went to Flatbush and Church, where he called 911. Officers from the 70th Precinct who were near Flatbush and Church spotted one of the men and proceeded to chase him down and arrest him, the 70th Precinct told us.

“The commanding officer strategically placed these guys, which led to a quick and speedy arrest,” Detective Dominick Scotto, of the 70th Precinct, told us.

The NYPD are still on the lookout for one other person involved in the taxi robbery.

Police have also arrested a man who’s accused of mugging people in our area.

Officers arrested the man after he mugged a worker from the Flatbush Food Coop on Monday night.

“Within 20 minutes of him robbing that kid, we caught him,” Scotto said of the perpetrator who police said is also responsible for a mugging on Albemarle and E. 19th Street. The detective said they’re working to see if he is tied to any other recent crimes in the area, including the recent mugging on E. 23rd Street.

CB 14 member and police liaison Joe Dweck sent a message to the community, praising the 70th precinct:

There was a perp that had been mugging people in the Midwood and Ditmas Park area. He mugged another person last night but the perp was caught 15 minutes later. CONGRATS to the [70th Precinct] on such great work. From a community that is always grateful.
