Couple Stabbed to Death in Attack Outside PLG Home
PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS – A home invasion robbery gone awry led to the stabbing death of two Winthrop Street residents yesterday in PLG, said police.
Responding to a call of a robbery in progress around 6:40 pm on Wednesday, February 7, NYPD officers arrived at 263 Winthrop Street to find two unconscious and unresponsive victims with multiple stab wounds, said police.
Stephenson Bonaparte and Hazel Brown owned the King Solomon Religious store on Rutland Road and were on their way home from work when a masked attacker assaulted them, stabbing them both in the neck, witnesses told the NY Daily News.
Bonaparte, 65, was found outside the home, bleeding, and was transported by EMS to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Inside the white clapboard home, police found the body of Brown, aged 59. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult daughter of the couple, who was inside the house at the time of the attack, made the 911 call, sources told the NY Post. Once she made the call, she fled to a neighbor’s house, carrying her 2-year old child.
An investigation into the attack and its possible motive are underway, said police.
