Playtime In Park Slope: Upcoming Children’s Events

Looking for something fun to do with the whole family this week? From an annual neighborhood sing-along and musical performance, to a top-tapping version of A Christmas Carol, to a festival with samurai demonstrations, and more, there are a lot of great kid-friendly events coming up in our area:

Yellow Sneaker Sing-Along
When: Wednesday, December 10, 10am
Where: Tea Lounge, 837 Union Street
What: A 45-minute interactive singalong with puppets and guitar, combining original songs, oldies, and traditional children’s music that’s geared towards kids ages 0-5 and their families​.
How much: $5 per family.

Kings Bay Y Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, December 10, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score yours.

Game On!
When: Thursday, December 11, 3:30-5pm
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids can head to the library to try out some board games. Games are available for sign out from the children’s reference desk.
How much: Free!

Storytime
When: Friday, December 12, 10am
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Avenue
What: A weekly storytime has returned to Postmark! Stop by every Friday for some free fun.
How much: Free, but there’s only space for 20 kids, so arrive early to ensure your spot.

Book Adventures: Winter Craft
When: Friday, December 12, 3pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Children of all ages are invited to make holiday and winter decorations out of paper to liven up your home or the library! Kids under 3 must be accompanied by an adult.
How much: Free!

J-COLLABO Kids Festival
When: Saturday, December 13, 12:30-4pm
Where: J-LABO, 330 7th Street
What: So much fun stuff to check out, from a puppet show, to an origami workshop, to a (non-alcoholic) amazake tasting, to samurai demonstrations, and more!
How much: $10 suggested donation.

‘Scrooge’ The Musical
When: Saturday, December 13, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: You’ll be putting aside all bah-humbugs after you see this musical based on Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol,” presented by Plaza Theatrical.
How much: Free!

Jingle Bell Jamboree
When: Saturday, December 13, 7pm
Where: Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Place
What: This fun, festive and family-friendly concert will feature the PS 38 pop chorus, kid-favorite Rolie Polie Guacamole, and more. There will also be a Toys for Tots collection site, so bring any new and unwrapped presents you’d like to donate.
How much: Suggested admission donation of $5 for children and $10 for adults.

Storytime: B Is For Brooklyn
When: Sunday, December 13, 11am
Where: Barnes & Noble, 267 7th Avenue
What: Authors Selina Alko and Sean Qualls will read stories to help support PS 10 of 7th Avenue, whose PTA will be receiving a portion of sales, so guy buy some books, too!
How much: Free!
