Give your kids an extra hug today, and if you can make a little more time to hang out with them this week, we’ve got a few suggestions for things to do in the neighborhood.

Storytime
When: Friday, October 11, 4pm
Where: Brainy Academy, 792 Union Street, 2nd floor
What: Finding local storytimes at other locations crowded? Or just looking for an additional option? They’ve got a storytime every Friday from 4-5pm. Has anyone been, and if so, how was it?
How much: Free!

Adventure Time Encyclopaedia Signing
When: Friday, October 11, 6-8pm
Where: Bergen Street Comics, 470 Bergen Street
What: Two hours of Adventure Time craziness, as the creators of the official guide to the hit show will be on hand to hob nob, answer all your burning questions, and deface your copies of the Encyclopaedia with their signatures! Meet author and voice talent Martin Olson (Lord of Evil), Olivia Olson (Marceline), and illustrators Celeste Moreno and Mahendra Singh.
How much: Free!

Race Around the Farmyard
When: Saturday, October 12 & Sunday, October 13, 2-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: The whole family can get in on the fun of potato sack races, spoon races, stilts, and other old-fashioned games. Repates every weekend in October.
How much: $3 suggested donation

French & Spanish Storytime
When: Saturday, October 12, 3:30pm
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Volunteers from the Brooklyn Beanstalk language immersion school do an entertaining storytime program in French and Spanish for ages 12 months to 8 years.
How much: Free, but space is limited. Tickets available at Children’s Desk beginning at 1pm.

Lloyd Miller CD Release Party With Hip Tot
When: Sunday, October 13, 11:30am (doors 11am)
Where: Shapeshifter Lab, 18 Whitwell Place
What: The Hip Tot Music Fest concert series presents Brooklyn kids music favorite Lloyd Miller (of The Deedle Deedle Dees), plus book readings, crafts, face painting, giveaways, and more.
How much: $10 in advance, $15 at the door (non-walkers are free)
