Looking to scare up some fun for the whole family this week? It’s almost Halloween, which means you can look forward to creepy crafts, spooky storytimes, the big parade, and more. Details on those and other kid-friendly events in our area:

Babies & Books
When: Wednesday, October 29, 10am & 10:30am
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Kids ages birth to 18 months and their guardians can enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes.
How much: Free, but you must pick up a ticket the morning of the program at the Children’s reference desk.

Kings Bay Y Rock With Adam
When: Wednesday, October 29, 10:30am
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Are you ready to rock? Neighborhood kids are definitely in for a treat as guitarist Adam Blotner plays some of his favorite tunes.
How much: Free, but tickets are required for entry (one per family), so be sure to arrive early to score yours.

Halloween Crafts
When: Thursday, October 30, 4pm
Where: Park Slope Library, 431 6th Avenue
What: Get ready for the big day by making some spooooky crafts! This event is geared toward school-aged children, though younger siblings are welcome.
How much: Free!

Storytime
When: Friday, October 31, 10am
Where: Postmark Cafe, 326 6th Avenue
What: A weekly storytime has returned to Postmark! Stop by every Friday for some free fun.
How much: Free, but there’s only space for 20 kids, so arrive early to ensure your spot.

Book Or Treat!
When: Friday, October 31, 3:30-5:30pm
Where: Central Library, Youth Wing, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: We know candy’s the star today, but this is a pretty great treat, too: Come in costume to the children’s reference desk and get a free book!
How much: Free!

Park Slope Civic Council Halloween Parade
When: Friday, October 31, 6:30pm
Where: Starts at 14th Street and 7th Avenue
What: Walk along with your creepy, crawly, and fantastically costumed neighbors to a party at the conclusion point at the Old Stone House.
How much: Free!

History In Your Hands: Paper Quilting
When: Saturdays & Sundays in November, 12-4pm
Where: Lefferts Historic House, Prospect Park
What: Make your own paper quilt collage to add to the Prospect Park Alliance’s community patchwork quilt.
How much: $3 suggested donation.

A Musical Road Trip Of Fun
When: Saturday, November 1, 1pm
Where: Central Library, Dweck Center, 10 Grand Army Plaza
What: Local favorite Suzi Shelton and her band will be performing songs from her third solo album, including songs like “Go, Fire Truck, Go,” and “Cinnamon Bear.”
How much: Free!

Songs For Unusual Creatures
When: Saturday, November 1, 4pm
Where: Barbes, 376 9th Street
What: Quirky author and composer Michael Hearst, along with his five-piece band, presents Songs For Unusual Creatures: a highly-geeky A/V presentation of some of the most bizarre animals that roam the planet. Featuring: Michael Hearst, Ben Holmes, Allyssa Lamb, Kristin Mueller, and Jonti Siman. Fun for the whole family!
How much: $10 strongly suggested donation.
