Play Ball! McKinley Park’s Newly Renovated Baseball Field Opens
DYKER HEIGHTS – Yesterday, the NYC Parks Department cut the ribbon on the new and improved baseball field at McKinley Park in Dyker Heights.
The $2.5 million renovations replaced the cracked asphalt surface with new synthetic turf through funds secured by 43rd District Councilmember Vincent Gentile and Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
Bleacher seating and new benches were also part of the project, which also installed accessible drinking fountains at the site and misters to keep the synthetic field cool. Shade trees were planted along with new landscaping.
“I am overjoyed to cut the ribbon on the charmingly designed new youth softball field, centrally located at McKinley Park, in the very heart of my district,” said Councilmember Gentile. “All of these new amenities will be enjoyed by each and every one of the families that I represent.”
The new field will host little league games as well as being open for multi-purpose play.
