Pizza Superstar Now Open On Dean Street
The block of Dean Street between 5th and Flatbush is now on its way to potentially being one of the most delicious pizza blocks in the neighborhood, as Pizza Superstar has opened, and Patsy’s is on the way.
After months of waiting — signage about the new space originally went up in March — Pizza Superstar opened at 446B Dean Street, in the space most recently home to Anneris Beauty Salon, which moved last year. It’s from the same owner behind Broccolino, the Italian restaurant located right next door, and they’re making calzones and pizzas in a domed, hand-made brick oven made by Uno Forno, the kind currently used at gourmet NYC pizza joints Paulie Gee’s and Donatella.
It looks like a pretty cozy spot to enjoy a pie, and based on the ones we spotted diners sharing, we’re looking forward to trying them out. They say they’re only open for dinner right now, and they’ll have delivery and online ordering up soon. Anyone stop by to try the place yet?
Meanwhile, just up the block, things seem to be moving along for Patsy’s Pizzeria, the East Harlem spot that has been serving up coal-oven pies since 1933, which is opening a location at 450 Dean Street. Work is underway to transform the space — also formerly a salon — into a 100-seat restaurant that’s expected to open by the end of the year.
