Pilar Cuban Eatery’s New Location To Open By New Year
The wait is almost over: Pilar Cuban Eatery‘s move into its new, larger home at 397 Greene Avenue will happen by the new year.
The goal is to open before Christmas, said owner Ricardo Barreras, and “Plan B is right after.”
Either way, he assured us, it will be worth the wait. Not only will the restaurant have nearly three times the space – seating 60 inside, versus the current 15 – but it will also have an expanded menu, bar and outdoor seating (around 20 seats on the Greene Avenue side).
“It’s a very custom-built space and it has a lot of surprises,” Barreras enthused. “Our approach has been to make the best version of Cuban dishes we can and we’ve gained a great following. Now we’ll have the space to match.”
Barreras and his wife Lisbeth Moreno opened Pilar over five years ago inside a super-cozy 400-square-foot space at 393 Classon Avenue, bringing classy and comforting Cuban food to a community where they quickly became a favorite.
The new menu will keep up that tradition, adding small plates/tapas options and a larger brunch, as well as wine, beer, sherry, and Spanish sidra – a dry, funky bottled cider – on tap.
“We’re super excited,” said Barreras. Well, so are we.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this one, folks, and you can, too: get a sneak peek at some of Pilar Cuban Eatery’s new menu items over at their Facebook page.
