Photos Of The Day: RIP Trees, See You In Another Life

You may have noticed lots and lots of trees piling higher along our sidewalks this weekend as the city begins to collect them to turn them into mulch (put yours curbside by the end of the week if you haven’t yet!). Dianna D’Amico and her girls sure noticed, and had a little fun thanking them for their service with the photo above.

Meanwhile on 4th Avenue, the first annual Holiday Tree Drag gathered trees left by neighbors along the busy street and chipped them at the Gowanus Canal Conservancy’s Salt Lot, ensuring the mulch will be used right in the neighborhood. Neighbor S.J. Avery, from the Park Slope Civic Council‘s Forth on Fourth Avenue committee, shares the photo above and reports that the Salt Lot mulched about 600 trees, exceeding their goal of 500!
