Photos: Kings Bay Y Hosts One Of Its Biggest Purim Parties Ever

The Kings Bay Y hosted one of its largest Purim parties Sunday when more than 3,000 people swarmed the community center for an afternoon filled with colorful costumes, dance, music, and rides.

“It was crazy, awesome fun. Families were jumping into a new activity every 10 minutes,” said Daniel Zeltser, associate executive director for the Kings Bay Y.

Children of all ages came out to celebrate the Jewish holiday, which commemorates the rescue of the Jewish people from annihilation by the ancient Persian empire. The kids turned out in colorful costumes for the event and jumped into the fun. There were several Purim-themed arts & craft workshops, bouncy castles, carnival games, face painting, and a costume contest. The celebration culminated in a giant dance party.

“Our goal was to have people of all walks of life, with Jews of all walks of life, mixing together and engaging in the festivities. We wanted to open out doors and invite all families from the community,” said Zeltser.

Elected officials such as Assemblymembers Steven Cymbrowitz and Helene Weinstein, as well as City Councilman Alan Maisel turned out for the event.
