Photo Flashback: P.S. 10
In this week’s flashback, we’ve got P.S. 10, circa 1930. The caption on the back of the photo reads, “P.S. 10, Brooklyn, [a large, four-story, brick building with iron fence along front and side] at 7th Avenue and 17th Street, one of 19 new schools and additions that the Board of Education will open tomorrow. P.S. 10 provides nearly 2,000 [seats] and cost about $765,000.”
Although we’ve got more trees, significantly more cars, and a sprinkling of traffic lights in our modern photo, the exterior of the building looks almost identical to the way it looked on the eve of its opening 83 years ago.
