Photo Finish: History Underfoot
We love this little bit of history on South Oxford Street. M. Abbott’s Sons business, which was a steam and water heating business (among other things), was reportedly founded in 1857, and incorporated in 1903. You can see some more info about the Abbott family and their businesses here, which explains that this may have actually been a coal chute cover.
