Photo Of The Day: Toys, Toys, Toys!
We love the generous spirit of neighbors that shines in particular each December, and annual toy drives always makes us proud to live in such thoughtful borough.
One of the many spots that takes the giving seriously is Green-Wood Cemetery, where, for the past 10 years, they’ve collected and distributed toys through the Brooklyn Borough President’s office. Each December, donated toys are collected at the 177-year-old cemetery, then Green-Wood vehicles and staff time are donated to pick up toys donated in other participating locations throughout the borough.
“The toy drive is a treasured part of the holidays at Green-Wood, and the staff is thrilled to be a driving force in collecting and donating toys for young Brooklynites in need,” a Green-Wood spokesperson tells us.
If you’d like to add to the pile pictured above, you can drop off new, unwrapped toys appropriate for kids up to age 12 at the main entrance of Green-Wood, on 5th Avenue at 25th Street, in the main office at that entrance, or left with the guard at the arches.
And for additional toy donation drop-off locations around the neighborhood, check out this Toys for Tots map.
